Show THE SOURCE OP AUTHORITY. In tho absonco of President Joseph F. Smith, Governor Cutler knows where to go for orders. His visit to Provo is no doubt, for the purpose of hnving Apostle Smoot mnke up his miud for him as to what ho ought to do about calling the spocial session of tho Legislature Leg-islature for tho purpose of taking tho preliminary stops to consolidate Tho Agricultural Collego with tho University Univer-sity of Utnh. It ip probable that Governor Gov-ernor Cutler knows now what his decision de-cision is on that question, though ho didn 't know this prior to his trip to Provo. It is well, when we have such an official offi-cial as Governor Cutler, that thcro is prepared a source from which ho can receive inspiration and guidance. Bad as that guidanco is liable to be, anything any-thing is bottor than nothing. Tho case 18 somothing like that of the wicked sailor who was about to die, and wns assured that he would go to hell; "and," romnrked his bunk-mate, "you ought to bo thankful that there is a placo prepared for you to go to," a proposition against which the dying man was disposod to rebel, but saw no way to help himsolf. So it is with tho peoplo of Utah. They may think it is hell to have such a Governor, and to see him seek such "counsel" and direction ns ho does; but there ho is, and thero is no way to help it. Occasionally-, however, good counsol can come from the worst of sources; and it is possible that it may be so in this case. |
