Show DIES ON MILK WAGON. Aged Indiana Dairyman Meets Death in Harness. SEYMOUR, Ind . May li. Mra L. L Shields, aged 68, fell dying on the milk wagon she has driven for nearly forty years through the streets of Seymour. She went out, as usual, this morning on her milk route, and when the round was nearly finished she was attacked by heart trouble. Her faithful horsr-s, companions of many years of toll, started back homo when they felt th reins slacken, and their mistress breathed her last after their arrival in sight of the familiar place. Mrs. Shields came to Seymour in 1862, when the town was founded., and Blni 6 1S6S has kept a 1alr. which Is nov. the largest here. She drove a milk wagon twice a day, summer und winter During President Buchanan's administration, admin-istration, between 1857 and 1861, Mrs. Shields was postmistress as deputy for her father. Hr husband died in 1830. |
