Show Picked Up Brains in a Hankerchief Miner Crushed to Death by Cave-in in the Ferris-Haggerty Mine. Special to The Tribune. RAWLINS. Wyo., June 23, A telephone tele-phone message from Rudefcha today to-day conveys the intelligence of an accident which occurred at the Ferris-Haggerty mine at 12:30 o'clock last night. A cave-In In the fifth floor above the tunnel, sixty feet long and six feet wide, occurred, burying and killing instantly Clint Morgan and probably fatally Injuring Frank Garrett. Morgan's body was literally mashed to a pulp by the- falling ore. his brains were picked up ln a handkerchief and there was not a whole bone left ln his body. Garrett's Injuries are very serious, seri-ous, being completely paralyzed below the hips, and it is not believed he can recover. The two men were tramming when the accident occurred, and the superintendent superin-tendent had Just inspected this part of the mine a few moments before the ore fell. The cave-in is ln the old workings of the mine, and was supposed to be perfectly safe. |
