Show TWO VETOES HANDED DOWN BY THE MAYOR Mayor Morris yeoterday vetoed the action ac-tion of the Council taken Monday night whereby the city sealer of weights and measures waa given authority to hire a horse and wagon fivo days each week to aid him in the performance of his duties. This is the sweond time the Mayor has disapproved of the Council's Coun-cil's action in regard to this question. In his veto message the Mayor has the following to say on why ho bellevcB the sealer should be given authority to purchase a horse and vehicle instead of hiring the; some when needed: "That the officer in question needs a horae and wagon to moro thoroughly prosecute the excellent work already commenced is beybnd a doubt. The cost thereof 'would, In the end, be less than by the' hiring process, and the additional advantages gained would be hard to estimate. The cost of keeping the horse In the city's stxiblea would be nominal, and, everything considered, I believe the purchas-e'of a horse .and wagon outright out-right is to the mutual advantage of ail concerned." The Mayor, also disapproved of . the bicycle ordinance, but says that ho will approve the game If the restricted riding rid-ing district is mado, to Include the sidewalks between Sixth and' Tenth East and Second and Sixth South streets. |
