Wonderful Endurance Shown by Women Two Stand in Line at Land Office Over 100 Hours in Effort to Secure Homestead, VANCOUVER, July 23. The Government Gov-ernment will throw open for entry 36,-000 36,-000 acres of pasture and timber land in tho extreme western part of Washington Wash-ington next Tuesday. Although it Is jet almost three days away there arc more than fifty people In line waiting to file clulms. Two of the number, both women, have been there almost constantly since last Tuesday morning, Tho two women stationed themselves In front tf the door of the land office before daylight and noon afterward a man put In an appearance. From that lime on the line continued to grow, no one leaving his place night or day except ex-cept for a few moments, when a substitute substi-tute would hold It for them. Yesterday the register of tho land office devised the plan of giving out numbers at tho close of office hours and allotting the place of the holder of the number the next morning. Up to this time tho women had not slept in bed for over 100 hours.
