Show WANT NO LIOUOR AT BRIGHTON RESORT Potition to the County Commissioners Requesting1 That No LIcouee Bo Issued. SHALL Brighton summer resort be wet or dry? This is a question that it Is up to the Board of County Coun-ty Commissioners to decide. A protest has been filed with the board protesting against the Issuance of a liquor Hcen80 to any saloonkeopcr at Brighton. The protest Is signed by E. B. Crltchlow and about twenty others owning summer homes at the popular little mountain resort. Two women, signers of tho protest, appeared yesterday yester-day and set forth the evils that would result If intoxicants were sold. There are two sides to the question In the minds of the Commissioners They say that liquor will be sold on the quiet at the resort if a license is not Issued, and that the county might Just as well receive the customary revenue. It Is further believed by some that there will be more drunkenness and rowdyism where tho Intoxicants are sold on the quiet than where drinks may be bought openly In a saloon. Men, too, It Is urged, will take their refreshments with them to the resort If they think they cannot be served there. As there will be liquor at Brighton In either event, the Commissioners Commis-sioners cannot see but what It Is merely a quosllon of revenue to tho county. The board now has the matter under advisement. |
