AN ATTEMPT AT BURGLARY Tliief Tries to Get Into the Place of I Walters A burglar who failed to leave his card made several vigorous attempts to effect an entrance to the pawnshop of I Wallets ut 31 East First South street last night After making an unsuccessful effort lo pry open the rear door the fellow tried to climb through the upper part of ono of the windows crawling up a heavy plank which he slanted against the wall lie was not sulllclenlly cautious In his movements and as a result a young man sleeping in the PlaCe was awakened Catching sight of tho robbers face through the window he hastened to turn on the lights and then notified the police Olllcors Lincoln and Palmer were on the scene within a short time but the fellow had gone leaving no clue to his identity other than a few indistinct footprints
