I FIRE AT BALL PARK Grand Stand and Pavilion at St Louis Destroyed SU Louis Mo May iA I fire probably prob-ably started by a careless smoker broke out underneath the center of tho trrnnr nfanrt Rt National l loil rlin hriso ball U park at 530 this afternoon and in a very short space of time the grandstand grand-stand pavilion and office of the company com-pany J weie a mass of ruins The fire spread with amazing rapidity but the spectators acted very coolly and got out of the grounds without injury The flames were funned by a high wind and for a time threatened to spread to other buildings In the vicinity I Tim races wore on at the fair grounds just across the street from the ballpark ball-park and tho immense sheets of flame and huge billows of smoke created consternation con-sternation among the race patrons The fenco caught fire but before tho flames could spread to the clubhouse and grand stand the fire department arrived on the scene and threw Itself Into the breach Loss 30000
