A STORY OP LOWELL New York Commercial Advertiser A good story concerning James Russell Rus-sell Lowell has just been told for the firsttime Professor Royce of Harvard Har-vard college has a son Theodore who has all the hall marks of genius Theodore is not yet old enough to have made known whether he will be a genius or not but the peculiarities of that tribe are his One day the boy who was then about S years old van watering the lawn in front of his fathers fa-thers house In Cambridge just as James Russell Lowell passed by on his way to Professor Nortons a little further fur-ther along The boy turned the hose on Mr Lowell and despite Jiis expostulations expos-tulations drenched him from head to foot so that he had to go to Professor James house near by to get an entire change of clothing When Professor Royce heard this ho was naturally very indignant and took Theodore severely to task I dont see how you could have done1 it Theodore What reason was there In doing such a thing as that he asked Theodore looked gravely at his father fa-ther and said There was every reason rea-son in the world I was extremely desirous de-sirous of knowing how a poet would behaYe under such circumstances i tt
