I NATIONAL GUARD NOTES 1 Last Monday evening the regular bimonthly bi-monthly battalion drill was held at the armory Major H M H Lund commanding com-manding Lieutenant Smetzer this week received re-ceived from Adjutant General Burton his letter of appointment as first lieutenant lieu-tenant of company A Companies A B and D will march in the Decoration day parade The First Regimental band will also turn out I Quartermaster Gilbert now has charge of the armory having been assigned i as-signed to that duty In consequence of I Captain Carters withdrawal from the I I guard I The signal corps now has a membership member-ship of nineteen and the prospect Is I excellent for an early Increase to twen j tyfive E S Armet i an applicant for I membership I I E company of Bountiful has received I two applications for membership They j are David J Lawson and John HH I dritch Brigadier General John Q Cannon has assumed command of the First brigade including all companies in the guard > Major Lund did not to B go Brigham i da City last Sunday as intended He will I make the trip today and make an endeavor en-deavor to locate the guard property which is missing at that place Captain Smith will go to Lehl during the latter part of this week and muster in company G the Infantry organization organiza-tion recently organized at that place I Is said Fred Kacher is the person most likely to be elected captain Troop A the new cavalry organization organiza-tion in Rich county will be mustered in as soon as the proper equipment can be obtained This troop has fortytwo enlisted men Lieutenant Darke is now In command com-mand of D company that company being be-ing without a captain Quartermaster Gilbert Is soon to make a trip to Richfield where he goes to take charge of the late company Ks equipment The board of survey this week took the affidavits of officers regarding losses of property I is thought the board will have finished its work by next week after which requisitions will be made for a complete outfit of new uniforms for the guard A summary court is soon to be ap pointed which will first hold forth at Jlanti where several cases are awaiting trial There are also several cases among the companies here which must I be heard Absence from drill i the chief offense the court has to deal TYlth The signal corps will go up to Ensign En-sign peak In a body early on the morn ing of Decoration day and hoist the state flag
