Show KILLED IN A AME ACCIDENT FOUR MEN LOSE THEIR LIVES AT ROSSLAND B C Hoisting Machinery Broke and They I Were Dropped to Bottom of the Shaft 350 Feet Robsland B C May 20Four men lost their lives by a shocking accident in the War Eagle mine today Mike Cook W F Schofield H A Honey ford James O Palmer and Thomas A Neville entered the skip at the 250foot level The engineer started the machinery hinery but the bolt on the starting I lever fell out the engineer was thrown I I on his back and the hoist dashed 350 feet to the foot of the shaft I Honeyford Palmer and Neville were instantly killed and their bodies were crushed almost beyond recognition Cook and Schofield were taken outlive out-live but the latter died soon after arrival rival at the hospital Cook was only lightly injured and will be about in a day or two I The dead minds were among the pick or the mine Schofield was from Jakvillo and an upper Canadian colIc col-Ic e boy Palmer and Neville came here from New Brunswick Inspector MacGregor is on his way here and a thorough investigation will be held Seven men have lost their lives in Rossland camp within a month The War Eagle closed down but will start UD again on Monday |
