Jay Hartvigsen of Bountiful, and Gary E. Lang-don, Lang-don, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary G. Langdon. PRESENTING the awards in behalf of the chapter were Anita H. Davis (Mrs. Ralph H. ), newly installed regent of the Sego Lily Chapter, and Mrs. Wayne L. (Betty S.) Cook, newly installed vice regent. re-gent. "A Famous American Born in February (prior to 1900)" was chosen by the NSDAR as the theme for this year' s American Amer-ican History Month essay contest con-test for young Americans in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Besides our national heroes, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the young people have become acquainted ac-quainted with other famous Americans such as William Henry Harrison, Thomas A. Edison,, Susan B. Anthony, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Longfel-low, Horace Greeley, Aaron Burr, Winslow Homer, Elizabeth Eli-zabeth Blackwell, Norman Rockwell, Laura Ingalls Wil- der, etc. SINCE THE inception of the American History Month Committee in 1956, the annual essay contest has been designed de-signed to stimulate interest in the history of 011: among school ct: Davis said that ft. goal is to build a p and appreciation fa country. |
