Show Federal Retirees' Problems Discussed The Bountiful Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees extends an open invitation to all retired, or soon to he retired, re-tired, federal employees to attend the Chapter meeting Feb. 8 at 12:30 p.m. in the Golden Gol-den Years Center, 726 S. 100 E., Bountiful. The subject for discussion will be: "Problems Facing the Federal Retiree" and "Present Threats to Retirement Re-tirement Benefits." A PROPOSAL to reduce all federal retirement benefits by 40 percent is being pushed. The backers of this proposal also advocate elimination of the cost of living adjustments. Blue Cross-Blue Shield has already announced a drastic reduction of benefits under the Federal Employees Health Benefits program, effective Jan. 1. 1982. Notification of benefit reductions has been sent to all participating hospitals, hospit-als, but no open season has been announced and notification notifica-tion of FEHB participant has not been made. ALLEN FLANDERS, Chapter Chap-ter president, has issued a challenge to all south Davis area federal retires to "stand up and be counted in the fight to save the benefits you paid for." Flanders also said that federal retirees and federal employees em-ployees must present a united position if they are to avoid erosion of their benefits. |
