Show ES)j Fog BOUNTIFUL - A preliminary hearing for a Tooele man accused of assisting assist-ing in the escape of a 13-year-old boy who is charged with shooting a Utah Highway Patrol trooper October 7 has been set for November 15. THE HEARING will be at 10 a.m. in Fourth Circuit Court of the old Bountiful City" Hall before Circuit Judge S. Mark Johnson. The defendant in the escape charge, Pablo (Paul) LeRoy Borrego, 37, of 116 North First Street, Tooele, was arraigned in Circuit Court Friday morning where Judge Johnson John-son set bail at $15,000. JUDGE JOHNSON agreed to reduce the bail from $50,000 set earlier while the defendant defen-dant was recovering from serious injuries he received in an auto accident a short time after the alleged shooting. Borrego's attorney, Robert Van Sciver, asked that the bail be lowered to $10,000 while Davis County Assistant Attorney Steven C. Van-derlinden Van-derlinden asked that it be no lower than $20,000. FOLLOWING THE arraignment, Borrego was booked into Davis County Jail, Farmington, but was released a few hours later after posting the cash and property bond. Meanwhile, a 13-year-old boy who is accused of shooting shoot-ing Trooper Ralph Evans, of ' Sunset, as the trooper made a routine investigation near Lagoon is still in serious condition con-dition at LDS Hospital. THE BOY and Borrego were involved in a three-car crash that ended the highspeed high-speed chase near 1850 South U.S. Highway 89-91 in Bountiful Boun-tiful about an hour after the alleged shooting. Borrego was arraigned on one count of obstructing justice jus-tice and two counts of aggravated robbery, the latter lat-ter two charges stemming from allegations that he forced two drivers to surrender their cars by threat of a gun, according to the investigation report.
