Show 1 Approueo Sisiuioioei By SYLVIA FORD WOODS CROSS Approval was given for a new subdivision to be built in Woods Cross by the city council at the meeting held on Oct. 17. However, before approval, the city council and the developers discussed what would be done with the retention pond that will be required as part of the project. A 2V4 to 3 foot deep pond is needed for storm drainage. MAYOR LAWRENCE Urry was concerned that it would develop into an eyesore such as the holding pond on 1500 South just east of the freeway. Developer Verle Haacke said this pond would be landscaped land-scaped and fenced. Mayor Urry said he would like to see some double use of the area, such as a park. However, the problem of who would close the gates during a heavy storm arose and was not settled. The site of the pond will be maintained for two years by the developers then the property will be deeded to the city at which time the city will assume responsibility for the property. All this could change if the county allows the city to use the A-l storm drain. AT PRESENT the matter is in litigation and could possibly possi-bly be resolved by the scheduled completion date (m-18 (m-18 to 24 months) of the subdivision. sub-division. If the county allows the city to use the A-l storm drain, the land held aside for a retention pond would then be used as a building lot. The name of the new subdivision sub-division will be Spring Meadows and Mr. Haacke will build 33 split entry and rambler style homes of about 1,000 to 1,200 square feet. Double garages or carports will be optional. The estimated estimat-ed starting date is within 30 days. The homes will sell for $53,000 to $57,000 and Kays-ville Kays-ville Realty is the broker. IN OTHER action, Mayor Urry read a letter from the League of Women Voters announcing an-nouncing a "Meet the Candidate Can-didate Night" on Oct. 26 at Millcreek Jr. High. The council heard a complaint from Jim and Shirley Arnett regarding a neighbor who has left debris on the street in front of his home and has not cleaned it up despite the .health and. safety hazards. The city council agreed to write him a letter giving him a time limit to clean the mess up or legal action would be taken. |
