Show Out Vhsre Will Btfl. Highway Finally End? BOUNTIFUL - Where it shall end, no one knows. THAT SEEMS to be the theme of the proposal to extend ex-tend Bountiful Drive -- also known as Ensign Peak Parkway Park-way -- through Bountiful to connect with a collector road somewhere in south Davis County. But where it will connect is still the problem, according to officials of the Wasatch Front Regional Council. THE FIRST proposal was to extend the north-south road . along the east bench of Bountiful Boun-tiful to connect with the 11th Avenue extension in Salt Lake City. But this was scrapped last week by the TransCom Committee Com-mittee of the WFRC. THIS IDEA was taken out of the long-range proposal by the TransCom Committee, the group representing transportation transpor-tation for the WFRC, but TransCom officials feel that the road should be extended to a point in south Davis County where it would connect con-nect with a collector road. One suggestion is to connect with Center Street in North Salt Lake. BUT THIS proposal has met with bitter opposition from North Salt Lake mayor and city council who claim that Center Street is already overloaded and inadequate to handle existing traffic. North Sail Lake residents, too, have offered a challenge to "fight to the bitter end" any attempt to end the proposed road in their city. Right now, it is shown on the map to connect where U.S. Highway 89 and Orchard Drive intersect, grb |
