Show Bate C3G3E1 noFD By DAVE WIGHAM WOODS CROSS - Although their players and coaches realize that this will be their last football game of the season, the Woods Cross football foot-ball program would like nothing better than to ruin the perfect record of the Logan club. IT WILL be an unhiil battle for the Wildcats but with nothing to lose, they might be primed for the upset. Also , consider the Grizzlies wrapped up the region title last week with their win over the Davis club in Kaysville. The Wildcat defense has been good all year. They have only given up an average of 16 points a game but their offense of-fense hasn't been able to score much at all, averaging ten points an outing. WOODS CROSS started out the year and the season in great shape winning their first four games, including their first two league games, but then their problems seemed to stack up. First of all their main offensive threat, Jeff Ostler, was injured in-jured and has never been at full strength really since. Take someone like Ostler out and an offense has to suffer. A close loss to Box Elder seemed to take some of the heart out of the players and they have never fully recovered since. ALL THINGS aside though, the Cats have been a competitive compe-titive club all year. They have been in most of their games until the final gun. This week could leave a great taste in the Wildcats' mouth if they could knock off the Logan crew. This team has a lot of pride in themselves and they'll go out and give the Grizzlies all the game they want. Logan has allowed their opponents op-ponents to score 91 points, which is about 15 per game, but the Grizzly offense has scored 152 points, second best in the league behind Davis. The Cats should be able to score and since their defense is their best side they have a good chance at the win. LOGAN HAS been known to throw the football, 250 yards last week against Davis, which puts a lot of pressure on the Cats secondary people, Todd Bailiff, Wes Mochzuku, Mark Earnshaw and others. Also the linebackers, Stu Egan and Dave Powell will be tested and the linemen Jason Whitney, Mark Tate, John Montgomery and Gregg Tuttle had better put some pressure on the passer Brad Jardine. Coach Hawkins might go with some of the younger people on the squad for some experience so juniors like Reed Call, Rick Hallows, Don Donaldson, Mike Brinkerhoff and Jeff Lewis might see some action. THE GRIZZLIES are sitting sit-ting high for an upset, they seem comfortable and snug after their win last week. The Cats have a lot of pride and are hungry to show they're a better club than their record would indicate. Here's the upset of the week, Woods Cross will knock off Logan. |
