Show Guests Enjoy Japanese Party "An Evening In Japan", could have been the theme of the party given by Mrs. Jessie B. Goates on Friday, so pretty and .artistically appropriate was every detail of arrangement. As the guests arrived, .they took their shoes off at the door, just as the Japanese do. Inside they found beautiful Japanese decorations decora-tions about the room all of which were brought -by Mrs. Goates on her return from over a year's stay in Japan. When the luncheon was served, the guests sat on cushions on the floor around a beautiful low black ebony table, which is one of the prized souvenirs brought home by the Goates. The meal consisted of several courses some of which were eaten with chop sticks. And all was prepared Japanese style even to the fish soup. The pretty Japanese costume which the hostess wore in preparing prepar-ing and serving the luncheon, lent a pleasing atmosphere to the occasion occa-sion as did also her beautiful Japanese Jap-anese vocal numbers which she rendered during the evening. Other entertainment consisted of games and visiting and viewing the many lovely Japanese souvenirs. souven-irs. Guests at the party included: Mrs. Beulah Whiting, Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Sumsion, Mrs. Emma Gardner, Gard-ner, Mrs. Lela Packard, Miss Carol Bird, Miss Effie Kelsey and Mrs. Eliza Taylor of Los Angeles, Calif. |
