Show By BERTHA L. MUIR 295-3742 Tomotsu and Chi Aoyama and Hy and Betty Meredith left on Aug. 8 for a fun-filled weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. They returned home Sunday evening and the 95 degree temperatures felt cool after trying to adjust to the 110 degree temperatures in Las Vegas. Dennis and James Meredith spent the weekend of Aug. 8 with Shere and Steve Rockwell of Bountiful and Kevin and Kathy Meredith in Sandy. Julie Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kaye Young has just returned from a tour of the European countries. She was one of a large group of Salt Lake area high school students who formed the group which left by airplane on July 7. They were all senior high school students with a high scholastic rating. Elaine is a student, at Bountiful High School. They took the grand tour which included, Spain, Italy, Ger-. Ger-. many, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and England. They traveled by plane from New York to London, starting their visit with a prolonged stay in London.', Mindy Goodfellow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Goodfellow of Lake Oswego, Ore. was a houseguest of 'her grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Clif-ford Goodfellow. She joined other family members at a dinner at her grandparents home last Sunday. Sun-day. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Brent Goodfellow and son. Brent is a student at the BYU. Mrs. George Burnham of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Sorenson of Chicago; Mrs. Geraldine Tracey and Byron Nelson of Washington, D.C. were all in Bountiful to attend memorial services for their mother, Myrtle Willey Nelson, held Monday, Aug. 18 at the Union Mortuary. They were guests at the home of their father J. Everett Nelson, Dr. and Mrs. Hubert Burton of Bountiful, and June Rushforth of Kays-ville. Norman Hoeppner and his fiancee, Tawnya Rees were guests of Mrs. Thelma Snider last week. Norman was choosen as a chemistry student to assist the research chemist at the University of Utah. Norman has completed his high school years and expects to continue his choosen field, chemistry. He will make his home with his mother, Mrs. lona Ruth Hoeppner through the school year. Mr. and Mrs. Le Grande Hubbard, their daughter, Sherri and son Michael have returned from an eight day visit with Lt. Thomas Weir and his wife, Sheliah Hubbard Weir. Lt. Weir is stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Al Lundell and daughter and son of Boulder, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidt and two daughters of Berkley, Calif, have returned home after spending a week with C.B. Owen. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stringham have returned from California where they attended the funeral service of Gordon's brother Devan Stringham. Over 200 people from the South Davis area attended the summer picnic for Golden Years members. The affair was held at the Bountiful City park. Staff and board members planned the party and served a delicious meal to the group. Each person per-son brought his own meat either cooked or had it cooked over the grill. The menu served was potato salad, green salad, rolls, and butter, a fruit plate and melon. The dessert was cantaloupe, can-taloupe, sundaes and punch was served by the staff. Air pollution attacks our old, our children and our vunerable. It destroys our art, our books, and our monuments. It kills our flowers and our trees. It injures in-jures our -lungs and our health. Eighty members and partners of the Davis High School class of 1935 enjoyed a barbecue supper at Farming-ton Farming-ton city park last Friday evening. The committee in charge included Max Muir, chairman; chair-man; Mrs. Reed Oviatt and Loftis Sheffield. They were assisted by Mrs. Max Muir, Reed Oviatt and Mrs. Loftis Sheffield. Following the picnic supper the group enjoyed telling stories of their lives, singing songs and getting acquainted. Prizes were given for those with the most children and grandchildren and various other things. One prize was -given to the happiest man present. Did you visit someone today and make them happy? There are many who are alone. Visit someone who is alone and you . will spread happiness and cheer. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Davidson was the scene of an outdoor barbecue and hamburger fry Saturday, Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m. There was an abundance of food, games and entertainment. entertain-ment. The large group in attendance at-tendance had an enjoyable time. ' Dr. and Mrs. J.E. Trowbridge and some of their family members returned from their summer home in Island Park, Ida. They were there three weeks. Murray Davis is recovering from a recent operation performed per-formed at a Salt Lake City hospital. Mrs. Martha Fackrell of Los Angeles, Calif, has been a houseguest of her sister, Mrs. June Longhurst in Salt Lake City. She also was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stahle Wicker and Mr. and Mrs. Hal Fackrell in Bountiful. Mrs. Leone Hatch entertained enter-tained Martha's former neighbors Friday for Martha to greet. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schmidt and daughters, Liz and Jane of Berkley, Calif, were guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smith last Friday evening at the Smith home. There were eight friends and their children present to greet the visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bixby of Prescott, Ariz, have been guests of Rosemary's mother, Mrs. Norma Orchard. Mr. Bixby is a sales representative for Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Lock Company of Salt Lake City, southern Utah, all of Arizona, New Mexico and part of Nevada and Texas. Rosemary is a retired beautician, she travels with her husband. Delbert Boynton a great-nephew great-nephew of Wilda Bluemel and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Jensen w.ll fill an LDS mission in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is at present attending language school at Ricks college in Idaho. Senior Citizens' Day will be held Friday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. at Lagoon. They will" meet in the Lake Park Terrace where a Kentucky Ken-tucky Fried Chicken lunch will be served with free dessert des-sert and drink. A good program is planned. Mrs. Ina Fechner of San Francisco, has been a guest of her sister, Mrs. Estrella Moore the past week. She is now at her summer home in Moroni. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Curtis and family have returned from a vacation spent in the Los Angeles area where they were guests in the home of Hal's brother, Keen. They enjoyed en-joyed visiting about the Los Angeles area. |
