B Willy, 14 years old in Sptember., and Michael Kigby of Lake Point, were " selected and sponsored by the Men's Club of the Salt Lake Church. THE PURPOSE of the amp is to teach many things which the young people do not tarn in every day life, i'lij An outstanding two day trip was by canoe to Elliott Island I m Pelican Lake. These 350 lb. i fiber glass voyager canoes r hold 12 people each plus all the supplies. An unexpected im;- ' night visitor at this camp was a bear who raided the camp for food, causing quite a furor. THE YOUNG people of the camp became experienced in mountain climbing and went into Canada on some of their outings. Willy earned a special certificate cer-tificate for catching the largest lar-gest fish caught at camp while he was there, a 3' lb. Northern pike, which the boys later ate. BOTH BOYS returned after a great summer experienced Gamer Ted Armstrong was a special guest at the camp and his two sons, David and Matthew Garner were both on the staff of teachers at the camp. Willy will enter Davis High School later this month, having hav-ing graduated from Davis Junior High. The camp hosts both boys and girls at different times, kj |
