Show ORDINANCE NO. 75-14 BOUNTIFUL, a Municipal Corporation AN ORDINANCE ADOPTED PURSUANT TO AND IN ACCORDANCE ACCOR-DANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF LAWS OF UTAH, 1975, CHAPTER 158 (53-6-20, UTAH CODE ANNOTATED, ANNOTAT-ED, 1953) PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS REGULA-TIONS FOR THE CONTROL CON-TROL OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND PARKING UPON SCHOOL PROPERTY BY MAKING THE TRAFFIC CODE OF BOUNTIFUL, UTAH APPLICABLE TO SCHOOL PROPERTY AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF SPECIAL RULES WITH RESPECT TO PARTICULAR PAR-TICULAR SCHOOLS, PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT EN-FORCEMENT OF SUCH RULES AND REGULATIONS REGULA-TIONS AND PRESCRIBING PRESCRIB-ING PUNISHMENTS FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BOUNTIFUL, BOUN-TIFUL, UTAH: Section 1. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE. Recognizing the need for rules and regulations for the control of vehicular traffic and parking upon school property, the Forty-first Legislature of the State of Utah Amended 53-6-20, Utah Code Annotated, 1953 to provide that local political subdivisions, after conferring with the local Board of Education, may adopt rules and regulations for the control con-trol of vehicular traffic and parking upon school property and the City Council hereby finds that there is a need for such rules and regulations and that in order to provide for uniformity of traffic rules and regulations throughout Bountiful, Utah the City Council further finds that the most appropriate means to provide such rules and regulations is to provide that the Traffic Code of Bountiful, Utah shall be made applicable applica-ble to and enforceable with respect to operation of motor vehicles upon school property. Section 2. ADOPTION OF TRAFFIC CODE FOR SCHOOL PROPERTY. The Traffic Rules and Regulations of Bountiful, Utah, known as the "Traffic Code," are hereby adopted as rules and regulations for the control of vehicular traffic and parking upon all school property within the Corporate limits of Bountiful, Utah except ex-cept as hereinafter provided with respect to penalties for violations thereof and such traffic rules and regulations shall be interpreted, construed cons-trued and applied insofar as practicable to traffic situations situa-tions arising upon school property to the same extent as though such school property were a public street, road or highway and for the purposes of this Ordinance, such school property is declared to be and shall be considered a public street, road, or highway. Section Four. DISSEMINATION DISSEMINA-TION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS. At the beginning of each school year, every student and faculty member shall be given a copy of rules and regulations adopted with respect res-pect to their particular school which copy shall also advise them that the traffic code of Bountiful, Utah is also applicable upon school property. Section Five. EN FORCEMENT. All such rules and regulations regula-tions with respect to school property shall be enforced by any law enforcement officer of the State, County, or Bountiful, Boun-tiful, Utah and they are hereby vested with authority to direct control, or regulate traffic upon schoolhouse sites within the city of Bountiful Utah. Section Six. PENALTY. It is an infraction for any person to do any act forbidden or fail to perform any act required by such rules and regulations and as such may be punished by a fine not exceeding ex-ceeding Two Hundred Ninety-nine Dollars ($299,00).
