Show WVX Cat Chat By JOANNA MOODY Watch out here they come! They're backfrom the land of the alligators. Today our cheerleaders return from sunny Florida (allowing, (allow-ing, of course, that their plane was not hijacked by Cubans) after having hav-ing successfully competed at the cheerleading competition there. They are tanner than ever and we are prouder than ever of them. Ourgirls' basketball team is right now in the middle (or should we say center?) of state playoffs. Their first game was yesterday and the tournament continues on through Saturday. For all you fans out there, be sure to listen to announcements and read other postings for further details on the times. All games will be held at Murray High School. We wish the ladycats good luck and we know that they will do well especially since they were undefeated in not one, but all of their region games. They're great! Friday, the 4th is the day you've all been waiting for because this is the day of. . . WXHS Olympics ! ! Let your heart beat and your blood Coump as you witness six exciting Vents including: suck and blow, marshmallow spitting, jello slurping, slurp-ing, a relay race, marshmallow stuffing and tug-o-war. No, you are not competing against Russians. No, you are not competing against Hungarians. No, you are not competing com-peting against Norwegians, Spa niards, Chinese, Italians, or Germans. Ger-mans. But yes, you are competing against people from your own high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Witnessing these events will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up as if someone is playing play-ing the National Anthem or our school song. The contestants will be doing death-defying acts. (You never know if someone will choke on a marshmallow.) As these contestants con-testants have worked for their whole lives for this day, vou will see dreams shattered while other dreams come true. But anyway, be there, in the auditorium, Friday afternoon, and come see for yourself. your-self. Medals will be given and a trophy will be awarded to the winning win-ning class. If you would like to participate, par-ticipate, contact one of your class officers and join in the games! Get on your marks, get set, and let the games begin! Also, to keep up with the Olympic Olym-pic tradition in Greece, that night (Friday, the 4th) we will be having a toga stomp! It will be loads of fun so dress up in a toga and get in for the mere price of $2 or come without with-out a toga (but wear clothes anyway) any-way) and get in for $3. Fun, fun, fun!! Now this is just a reminder to remember to remind all you movie producers out there that your films for the film festival are due on March 4. Please turn them in to one of the SBO's. By the way, you can all look forward for-ward to March 9 and 10 when there is parent-teacher conferences and school will be dismissed at 12:30. Hooray! Hooray! The student of the week is Michelle Lubeck. She is taking dental de-ntal assisting, housing and interior design and English. She likes to swim and bowl and she is involved on the WX swim team as an outstanding out-standing swimmer. She has gone to state all three years of her high school career. She hopes to become be-come a dental assistant or a teacher and the things she likes about Woods Cross High are, well, everything! ev-erything! She's great!!
