Two new locations Starburst Productions expands By CHERIE HUBER Starburst Productions has announced plans for expansion. The Davis County performing company is opening two new studios stu-dios and adding the Galaxy Junior Company to its entourage of performers. per-formers. Starburst, which was formerly located in Layton, will have its main studio at 133 S. State in Clearfield Clear-field in suites located above the Clearfield Hou,se of Flowers and Salvation Army. This studio will be the rehearsal site of the Starburst Tiny Tots for children 3-5, the Star-burst Star-burst Miniatures, ages 5-8 and the Starburst entertainers ages 8-12. . Students who attend this studio come from the north Layton, Clearfield, Syracuse and Roy areas. The second studio will be located lo-cated at 579 N. Main, Kaysville next to Teddy Bear Restaurant. This studio will provide training for the Tiny Tots, Miniatures and Entertainers En-tertainers from the south Layton, Kaysville and south Davis areas. Three teenage groups, Horizon, Galaxy Junior Company and Galaxy, will alternate rehearsals between the two locations. Artistic director of Starburst Productions is Jeanne Day. She is a graduate in music education from BYU and has toured Scandinavia with BYU performing groups. She has also sung with the Utah Opera Company and is a private music teacher. She is assisted by Sherry Fullmer, Lydia Evans, Pam Evans and Sarah Robinette. Groups that are part of Starburst Productions have performed for television, radio, at the State Fair, State Capitol and for many other community events. "The Starburst program was developed de-veloped with the idea of providing quality instruction and entertainment entertain-ment for the community," says Jeanne. "Our emphasis is good vocal technique, enhanced by training in stage presence, drama and dance. We consistently see our older students place well in com petitions and in their school productions. pro-ductions. We feel that performing aids in the development of self-esteem self-esteem and self-discipline, not to mention the refinement of talents that can serve others for a lifetime. Auditions for Horizon, ages 12-14, 12-14, the Galaxy Junior Company, ages 14-15 and Galaxy, ages 15-18 will be held at the Kaysville Studio Saturday, March 19 from 1-3 p.m. Those interested in auditioning should bring a memorized vocal " ... solo and a.short poem or dramatic ,. reading. An accompanist will be provided. All those auditioning will also be taken through a short dance routine as a group. Openings are for both boys and girls.
