Show Cutler, Reading are top athletes By TOM HARALDSEN Sports Editor As hard as it may be to believe, track season is upon us, and so is our first track Athlete of the Week. Bountiful's Mike Cutler burned the track of the Minidome in Pocatello last weekend during the annual Simplot High School meet, and his efforts have earned him our Davis County Clipper-Little Caesar's 'pizza Male Athlete of the Week ,Avard. Meanwiilewmtiftirteh nie Reading is recipient of this week's Female Athlete award, for her consistent efforts all year long for Bountiful, including 14 points and a perfect six-for-six from the line in a loss to Woods Cross. Cutler's success in Idaho included in-cluded a win in the open 200 meters, with a time just .6 seconds off the meet record, and anchor wins in both the boys' 4 by 200 and co-ed 4 by 200 relays. Other male nominees included Davis trackster York Major, Boun-tiful Boun-tiful basketballers Mitch Thain and Tony Smith, and Davis basketballers basketbal-lers Mike Welling, Bryan Emery and Brian Olsen. Female nominees included previous pre-vious Winners Carolyn Knight and Amy Mason, Woods Cross basketball; basket-ball; Heather Peel, Davis basketball; basket-ball; Tiffany Twitchell, Becky Ye-ates Ye-ates and Melissa Eggett, View-mont View-mont basketball; and also Bountiful Bounti-ful basketball players Lisa Wilkinson Wilkin-son and Mona Hibbert. All winners receive certificates from the Clipper, plus pizzas from Little Caesar's Pizza in Bountiful. |
