Bountiful Centennial contests 3 held as part of the festivities M As part of the Bountiful Centennial celebration, literary lit-erary and song contests have been conducted under the direction of Dora Flack, General Contest chairman. The public is invited to attend the Awards Ceremony Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bountiful City Council Chamber, 790 S. 100 East, Bountiful A glimpse into the past will be enjoyed as first place winning entries are read. Some of the songs will be performed. per-formed. The contest is focused on the history of the south Davis County area and has involved considerable re search on the part of contestants. Many entries have been submitted in seven categories: Songwriting, adult biography, articles, narrative nar-rative poetry, and general poetry. Two categories, prose and poetry, were open to youth, ages 12-18. Cash prizes have been supported by local businesses and service clubs and the historic medallions will be awarded to those receiving honorable mentions. A number of these articles will be published in a Centennial souvenir magazine at the end of the yearlong celebration. |
