Show Lady cagers wrap up region season By TOM MAKALOSKN Clipper Correspondent WOODS CROSS Region Six girls' basketball wrapped up its regular season Thursday afternoon with two local teams heading in opposite op-posite directions as this week's state 3 A tournament approaches (see sep-irate preview story). Region runner-up Bountiful drilled West 78-35 while Woods Cross was dropping a 56-50 decision deci-sion to defending champ Jordan. At Woods Cross, the Lady Wildcats dropped their fourth straight game as the Beetdiggers took advantage of a 16-3 third quarter scoring advantage. Woods Cross led 26-24 at halftime, but Jordan scored 12 of the first 1 3 points in the third quarter to take a 36-27 lead it never relinquished. Keying the attack was forward Debbie Bilbao, who connected con-nected for six of her 14 points in the period. In fact, the Wildcats scored all three points from the free throw line, single tallies by Kandi Savage, Meridee Nielsen and Molly Mason. When Jordan's Natali Christensen scored with two seconds left, the 'Diggers were up 40-29. Woods Cross pulled to within seven points three times, then got to within six at 54-48 with 1 :03 to play. Jordan eventually stalled until Mindee Boulton salted the game away with free throws at the 48-second mark. Christensen led Jordan with 19, Bilbao had 14 and Nikki Epperson 10. Woods Cross was paced by 13 from Smith and 10 from Maureen Newland. The Wildcats finished 7-7 in league, 9-11 overall. At Bountiful, the Lady Braves blitzed lowly West with a 22-7 first quarter advantage to bury the Panthers, Pan-thers, who finished 2-12 in league, 4-14 overall. By halftime it was 49-12 49-12 and Bountiful began playing everyone, including the janitors. Camille Dupaix, the talented senior forward playing her final home game, scored 25 points, senior guard Kim Reimann added 18, Jenny Gardner scored 11 and Amanda Walton added 10 for Bountiful, which finished the year 11-3 in league and 16-4 overall. Tooele finished with a perfect 14-0 league mark, and is 19-1 overall and top ranked entering this week's tournament.
