Show Higher standards at USU The Board of Regents has asked Utah State University to raise its 1 admission standards to admit those students who have the best chance to succeed, a university official said. C. Blythe Ahlstrom, assistant provost, said USU plans by fall 1993 to increase the grade-point average and ACT score required for admission. ad-mission. The university also plans by the fall of 1994 to require students to take certain classes in high school in order to qualify for admission to USU. High school classes would have to include four years of English, two years of mathematics, selected from geometry, intermediate algebra, trigonometry, college or advanced algebra, or calculus; two years of biological andor physical science; one year of history; and an additional four years of other classes from selective areas. In addition, addi-tion, officials will recommend that a student have at least two years of a foreign language. |
