Show I PALATIAL FLATS TO = BE ERECTED IN SALT LAKE I They Will be Built on First South and Fourth East Streets at a Cost of Over J25000 by Charles PL Deere I I I r 7T 1 I c = i L1 r FC VAT ITTN FIRsr i 6 VTR5 REEn ITTTR = The Tribune presents herewith the I south and cast elevations of the five magnificent flats which C H Deere the millionaire manufacturer of agricultural agri-cultural Implements expects to erect on the corner of First South and Fourth East streets the coming season That Mr Deere Is anxious to have the work begun upon the flats at once la evidenced by a letter which H J Hayward of the Salt Lake Building and Manufacturing company has received re-ceived from Architect Jones of Minneapolis Minne-apolis the representative of Mr Deere In which Mr Mayward Is urged to for ward his bid on ono of the flats as soon as posslbJe The original plans for the buildings were submitted to a number of firm In the city some months ISO but as separate heating and electric light plants together with other very costly Innovations were embraced Mr Deere was convinced by the lIds that the investment In-vestment would not be a paying one and It was decided to revise the plans which has since been done The revised plans however are also very elaborate and the buildings will bo Uio most convenient as well as the most costly apartment houses in the city The live different buildings will be connected by a rock und pressed brick archway leading to a court In the rear which IH to be paved The walls will be constructed of pressed brick and dressed rock the latter being of a dark led color and very liberally used throughout the building The entrance will bo built entirely of rock which will be artistically carved and ornamented giving a massive yet beautiful effect The plans further provide that all brick walls on the Inside shall be furred then lath and plastered The purpose of this K to make the house warmer In the winter and cooler In the summer It also regulates the temperature both I as to heat and cold The finish of the interior excepting the basement Is to be done in hardwood which Includes all doors frames and floors Thg basement base-ment Is to be finished In pine and Is so planned that each apartment will have a laundry completely fitted with galvanized gal-vanized tubs sinks and every other needed convenience also a bath tub and lavatory for use of the help Each apartment above will be filled with even modern convenience and appliance I appli-ance that is found in the modern Hats In the East The plumbing Is to be done on the most elaborate scale looking look-ing particularly to the laws of sanitation sanita-tion The heating plant iH i to he in the bcbcment of each fiat and will be so constructed and regulated that the temperature will be perfectly regulated One large boiler of 500 gallon capacity will supply the hot walr for each fiat There will also be a large tank on the roof of each fiat to regulate the water pressure The floors of all vestibules halls bathrooms and toilets are to bo laid with tiles while the basement will be laid in cement Each flat will be provided with a modern elevator which Is so arranged that it is conveniently located for the service of each apart men meat t Each flat will be four stories high including in-cluding the basement and will comprise I com-prise six complete apartments Each apartment will embrace six rooms a private hall pantry bathroom toilet and other conveniences Mr Hay ward estimates tho cost of the five flaw at over SUGOoo He expects ex-pects to forward his firm bid in a few dayu and says he expects the building to commence as soon as spring opens |
