Show I I ARE READY TO FIG il I AntiVaccination League Organized f Or-ganized Last Night D C DUNBAR IS PRESIDENT will Sond Children who Havo Had Smallpox and also Those who Hove not Been Vaccinated to School on Tuesday and if Either of These Classes are Excluded the Cases I will be Taken into the Courts Dr King Says Children who Have Had Disease will be Admitted In line with the movement started a week ago to resist vaccination and more especially to oppose the action of the health and school officers In excluding exclud-ing from the schools pupils and teacher teach-er who have not been vaccinated another an-other meeting was held In tho G A R hall last evening when a permanent organization vas effected under tho namo of The Utah AntlCompulsory Vaccination league the following ofll cers being elected D C Dunbar president presi-dent Prof J T Miller of Provo W H Tjbbals Daniel Harrington William J Silver W P Lynn Oliver Hodgson T C Morris vicepresidents Joseph H Parry secretary B R Schettlor treasurer Of the vicepresidents but two were present at the meeting Tho executive committee Includes the oft ccrs already named and the following Prof N Y Scofield Thomas Hull J B Cox S B Coatcs T G Griffiths an < Scott Anderson ane Several flvemlnuto speeches wer < made In line with the arguments of a week ago Among the speakers were Drs Douglas and Colburn both o2 whom advised the association to proceed pro-ceed with moderation and not allow their zeal to get the better hand of their Judgment The attendance was about half as large as that of a week ago To bring the matter of compulsory vaccination to an Issue the executive committee will send to some of the schools on Tuesday morning children1 of two classes neither of which has been vaccinated but who bear a physicians physi-cians certificate ofgood health and tho strongest statement obtainable that they have not recently been exposed to any contagious disease These classes will consist of those who have had smallpox and those who have never had the disease Then If cither or botb these classes are not allowed to ontet tho schools the matter will at once betaken be-taken Into tho courts by counsel already al-ready employed for that purpose The meeting adjourned without date the question of fighting the matter In the courts being left to the officers Dr King said last night that he did not believe that there would bo any objection ob-jection raised to the admission of children chil-dren who had gono through the smallpox small-pox ordeal oven 1 they had not beer vaccinated In his opinion once having had the disease they arc Immune and he saw no reason why they should bo vaccinated Dr King further said he was glad the fight was on and Its termination would settle the Important question now under un-der consideration Just what powers arc vested In the city Board of Health |
