Show UNUSED REVtNUc STAMPS Proper Place to Redeem Them is at Washington An unknown party brought two 10 documentary revenue stamps Into the Bank of the Republic yesterday and wanted to exchange them for stamps of smaller denomination Cashier Duncan Dun-can was suspicious as the stamps looked as though they had been soaked off some document and had been used without being canceled air Duncan declined to accommodate the man who said he had bought them from a party forSS The matter was looked Into and Revenue Collector Lewis said he had been asked as to the value of the stamps hlch were said to have been placed on the papers of a mining deal by G C Elmer but removed on the deal falling through so that the papers were never executed Air Lewis said there was no offense committed In this case BO far as he had been able to find out but the proper way for Mr Elmer would have been to send the stamps to the department at Washington where the Commissioner would no doubt have redeemed them |
