DEMOCRATS NOT PRESENT Leaders of Party in Maryland Refuse Re-fuse to Attend Bryan Meeting Baltimore Jan 20The Hon W J Bryan delivered an address here tonight to-night upon the political questions of the day to an audience which filled Music hall the biggest auditorium In the city to Its fullest capacity and which greeted greet-ed him and his remarks with the great est enthusiasm The meeting was held under the auspices au-spices of the Maryland Democratic association as-sociation one of the freesilver wings of the Democratic party of the Slate and was not encouraged In any manner by the regular Democratic organization organiza-tion In fact the latter held strictly aloof from any participation In the affair They made no effort to discourage It In any manner but not one of the Democratic Demo-cratic leaders appeared upon the platform plat-form and an offer of stage tickets was politely declined by the principal members mem-bers of the Democratic central com mlll mittee e At the conclusion of Mr Bryans address ad-dress Jie was the guest at a banquet given In his honor by his admirers in thin city and vicinity 1 1 r
