Show Q THE VERNAL LEGAL Secretaries held their February meeting at the 7-11 Cafe. L. David Burningham, Vernal City Attorney, was the guest speaker. Burningham spoke on the duties of the city attorney. Burningham was appointed deputy city attorney in April, 1980. He accepted the position Jan. 1, 1981. Legal Secretaries host city attorney The Vernal Legal Secretaries held its February meeting on Friday, Feb. 6 at the 7-11 Cafe, under the direction of Roena Licht, vice president. Vice president Licht welcomed guests, Debra Pope of the County Clerk's office, Jo Jo Gale and Marilyn Richey of Colton and Williams, Laura Carl, Williston, N.D. a former member, Kim Booher, Carolyn Wooley, and Sidney Weeks, Uintah High School students employed in local law offices. L. David Burningham, Vernal City Attorney, was introduced by the presiding officer, and spoke to the group on the duties of the City Attorney. Mr. Burningham stated that a city attorney's duties generally fell into four categories: giving legal opinions, representing the city in civil actions, criminal prosecution of all violations of statues and ordinances committed in Vernal City up to and including Class B Misdemeanors, and attending to all other legal business of the city, including in-cluding the revision of ordinances. Mr. Burningham received his BS degree from Weber State College in w n - :-V CT-- WOMEN'S AGLOW HELD, their February meeting at the Lamplighter Inn Restaurant, Feb. 7 at 12 noon. Guest speaker during the luncheon meeting was Pat Campbell. Pat is president presi-dent of Women's Aglow in Tooele, Utah. Ogden, Utah and attended law school at Western State University of San Diego, Calif., where he received his JD degree in 1978. Mr. Burningham was associated with the Attorney General's office in Utah in 1978 and 1979. He moved to Vernal in August 1979 and was associated with the firm of Beaslin, Nygaard, Coke & Vincent. David Burningham, who is now a member of the firm of Davidson and Burningham, was appointed Deputy City Attorney in April 1980 and accepted the position of City Attorney on Jan. 1, 1981. |
