The Vikings also had six matmen in the championship finals and four captured first place crowns. Brett Neilson, 65, acquired the first championship for West Junior High when he pinned Vernal's Shelton Humphries with three seconds left in the second round. Neilson dropped Humphries for a takedown in the first round for a 2-0 lead and added a reversal and a takedown in the second round before he ended the match with a fall. Neilson also defeated Daren Johnson of Vernal and Todd Weiand of Castle Rock. West gained its second first place crown when Craig Phillips, 70, pinned Richard Horrocks of Vernal with 1:21 left in the second round. Phillips gained a takedown and Horrocks pocketed a neutral in the first round. Phillips acquired a reversal in the second round and then pinned his opponent. Phillips also pinned Mike Meyer of Castle Rock in 41 seconds. The Vikings collected their third championship in a. row when Shane Frost, West, 75, rallied to edge Vernal's Ryan Siddoway, 3 to 2. The contest was tied at 0-0 after one round and Siddoway gained a reversal in the second round for a 2-0 lead. Frost captured a neutral in the third round to cut Siddoway's lead to 2 to 1, and gained his winning points on a takedown with 20 seconds left in the contest. Frost also downed Mike Moss of Rock Springs. West acquired its fourth first place championship when Ronnie Rich, 105, nipped George Cook of Vernal, 4 to 2. Rich dropped Cook in the first round for a takedown and a two-point near fall, but Cook gained a reversal in the third round, which cut Rich's lead to 4 to 2. Rich pinned Chris Barth of Parker in 59 seconds and downed Steve Lamore of Green River. Two West Vikings, Tony Winn, 112 and Shawn Cuch, 95, garnered second place crowns. Kary McNeill of Vernal pinned Winn with 36 seconds left in the second round. Winn downed Robert Merrill of Vernal and Brian Gazewood of Rock Springs. Craig Funk, Vernal, toppled Cuch, 7 to 1. Cuch downed Buster Morris of Parker and Devln Bailey, Vernal. Three West Viking tusslers, Anson Manning, 119; Ken Winn, heavyweight and Mike Rohr, 132, placed third. Manning downed Matt Honeycutt, Green River, 8 to 2 and Rohr blanked Mike Slaugh, Vernal, 2-0. Winn pinned Mike Hadlicka, Castle Rock at the 2:10 mark .
