Show Moon Lake Power Project DEIS hearing here Feb. 18 A public hearing will be held in Vernal on Feb. 18 to receive comments on the proposed Moon Lake Power Plant Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The purpose of the meeting is to allow concerned citizens to comment on the adequacy of the document in describing the project's impact on the environment. en-vironment. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Uintah County Courtroom. The Deseret Generation and Transmission Tran-smission Cooperative proposes to build two coal-fired 400-megawatt electric generating units. One unit is to start in 1981 and be on line in late 1984. The second unit, depending on future power needs, will start as early as 18 months following unit one construction, or as late as the 1990's. The site for the proposed power plants is northwest of Bonanza. Two other hearings will be held. The first hearing will be Feb. 17 in Salt Lake City in the Salt Palace, Room 220 and : the last hearing will be held Feb. 19 in Rangely at the Rangely High School. All hearings will start at 7 p.m. |
