Show Robbins' come to Basin in covered wagon Camp May Ruple held their February meeting at the home of Marie Soder-quist Soder-quist with Geneva Perry and Fontella Mann as co-hostesses. Luncheon was served to nine members, Captain Bennion conducted. The history was given by Maybell Olivers of her parents, Tom and Sarah Robbins. The Robbins came to the Uintah Uin-tah Basin from Lindon, Utah, in 1876 in a covered wagon. They had 12 children and raised two grandchildren, 7 of whom are still living. Ruby Nelson, Delia Cook, Maybell Chivers, Myrl Eaton and Tomt George and Floyd Robbins. Rob-bins. Captain Bennion gave the lesson on the life of Carl Christian Amussen, a jeweler and watchmaker, born in Denmark Den-mark in 1925. He was also a dentist, barber and gold miner. In London in 1864, he was baptized into in-to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, he came to Salt Lake City in 1865. In 1869, at the age of 42, he married mar-ried Anna K. Neilson, they had five children. He also married Martha M. Smith and her sister Barbara. At 65, Carl retired and sold the business to Leyson Pearsall Jewelry Co. He died Oct. 29, 1902 at the of of 75. The March meeting will be hosted by Vella Smith and Erma Casada. |
