Show ANOTHER APPEAL MADE TO GOVERNOR OF GOPHER STATE NRW YORK, Kept. 1. The American Alliance for Labor and Democracy today to-day telegraphed another appeal to Governor Gov-ernor Burnquist of Minnesota, urging him to permit the People's Council of America for Democracy and Peace to bold their convention in Minneapolis. The telegram stated the alliance felt that the activities of the council were "opposed "op-posed to the best interests of America," but maintained "that the right of free speech ami peaceful assemblage rise superior su-perior to that." Details of the alliance convention, which will be opened In Minneapolis next Wednesdav, were announced here today by the committee. The "Red, White and Blue special," carrying the New York delegation, will leave here Monday. The Pittshurg party will join the train at Cleveland and a carload of delegates will be added at Chicago. The western delegation, dele-gation, which left L.OS Angeles yesterday, yester-day, is expected to reach Minneapolis Tuesday. The convention will be opened by Frank P. "Walsh of Kansas City, as temporary tem-porary chairman, and the deb-gates will listen" to speeches on the purpose of the convention, which, it was announced, is to express loyalty to the government and to plan for hihor's part in the war." Among tlie speakers will he Samuel CJompers, Charles Kdward Russell, John Snargo and other labor leaders and Socialists. |
