Show SALUTING AND DRESS IMPORTANT FACTORS War Office of Great Britain Issues New Scries of Stringent Instructions. LONDON, Sept. 1. In a new series of stringent instructions, the war office notifies no-tifies the British officer that he must not allow himself to relax the regulations governing gov-erning saluting and dress. The new hi-structions hi-structions include the following points: Officers are to be most punctilious in returning salutes, and should show non-commissioned officers and men approaching them that they are expecting ex-pecting and are ready to return a salute. sa-lute. Officers' slackness in this respect re-spect is the cause of many men failing fail-ing to salute. When not on duty or parade officers under rank of field officer will salute all officers of field rank and upward. Field general officers will salute their superiors in rank. Officers stationed at home must always al-ways wear uniform except when engaged en-gaged in sports. Any stvle of uniform uni-form deviating from the regulation is prohibited. Officers in uniform must not smoke pipes in the streets or public places. Canes must be carried. |
