Show OVERLAND SIX AUTD MAKESGAS RECORD Car Owned by Judge C. W. Morse Does Better Than 24 Miles Per Gallon. I Judge C. W. Morse, well-known rittor-j rittor-j ney and Jurist of Salt Lake, is the latest to. come forward with evidence of the economy of the Oakland Six in the consumption con-sumption of gasoline. Ho has secured better than twenty-four miles to the gallon. gal-lon. Judge Morse has driven his Oakland someiliinK over 2,w0 mlle since he purchased pur-chased it a year ago last spring and declares it meets his expectations in everey way, but is particularly satisfactory satisfac-tory in the economy of fuel. "I was anxious to test out the car Tor 100 gallons and see what the average consumption of gasoline would be," said Judge Morse. "I kept accurate count up to ninety-six gallons and then some confusion developed as to the amount of gasoline put In the tank and I had to stop there. My figures, up to that point, however, were accurate and gave me the Information 1 wanted Just as well as though I had kept on to the 100-gaUon mark. "My speedometer at the ninety-slx-gal-lon point read 231 0 miles from the time I started my test. This divided by ninety-six gives twenty-four and a frac- , tlon miles per gallon practically twenty- 1 five miles. The test was perfectly normal, nor-mal, as it was made while the car was in ordinary daily use. "Besides being economical in this respect, re-spect, I have found the Oakland's upkeep up-keep in other respects equally reasonable. reason-able. It has given me practically no trouble, and repairs and replacements have been almost trivial In character. I can only say that the Oakland Six has ! in every way met my need perfectly." Fred Sharman of the Sharman Auto company, local distributors for the Oakland, Oak-land, in commenting on Judge Morse's statement, said : "Judge Morse's experience is common among owners of Oakland cars. We have scores who tell us that they get from twenty-three to twenty-five miles per gallon of gasoline. With good driving, driv-ing, the Oakland will go close to twenty-five twenty-five miles month after month. In this respect, it stands practically unique. "It is significant, too, that the Oakland Oak-land Is one of the most powerful cars for Its weight ever made. In spfte of its low consumption of gasoline, it will climb hills, get up speed and do the heaviest wor): of motoring with the best of them." |
