Show EXCEPTION IS TAKEN BY JAPANESE PAPERS I TOICIO, Sept. 1. Leading Japanese j periodicals are taking1 vigorous excep-j excep-j tion to the assertions of writers in for-I for-I eign countries that Japan Is taking but an Inconsequential part in the war. ! The Herald of Asia, notably, emphasizes empha-sizes the importance of Japan's assistance assis-tance to the entente allies, especially on the sea. and adds: "Those who fancy that Japan is a sleeping- partner 1 ii the war are doing us an injustice. What is, however, most important for those discussing dis-cussing Japan's contributions to the common com-mon calise to remember is the probable consequence of Japan's refusal to Join the entente powers. Such a decision on our part would probably have been sufficient suf-ficient to turn the scale irrevocably in favor of the Teutonic powers." |
