Show Annual Yearbook School Conducted Mon. By Art City Publishing Co. Students From 33 Different High Schools and Colleges Hear Instruction and Discussion of Problems Confronted in School Yearbooks. Approximately 140 students and faculty members returned to their schools this week with a clearer conception of the processes involved in the publication of a school an- nual, tollowing a one-day streamlined stream-lined school conducted Monday, at Memorial hall, by Harrison Conover, Con-over, manager of the local Art City Publishing Company. The school included representatives representa-tives from 33 different high schools and colleges throughout Utah, Idaho and Arizona, with delegates attending from as far north as Ricks College ( Rexburg, Idaho, and from as far sotith as Fredonia, Arizona. The second of its kind held in Springville in the past two years, the school is sponsored by the Art City Publishing Company as a means of assisting editors, faculty advisors and others connected with the school annuals, in the publication publica-tion of their school yearbook. The Art City Publishing Company Com-pany which last year printed yearbooks year-books for 34 different high schools and colleges, plans the publication of annuals for 50' different high schools and colleges in Utah, Idaho, Ida-ho, and Arizona, this year. The year-book schools at which students stu-dents planning their books, attend by invitation, solves a number of problems confronting the schools as well as the printer. The yearbook school opened with registration at Memorial hall from 9 a. m. to 10 a. in., followed by a two-hour period of instruction and discussion. Mr. Conover explained ex-plained the general layout of a yearbook and discussed general problems in regard to assembling of material and printing. Carl Erickson of Salt Lake City, explained ex-plained types of covers and the process in volvcd in the binding of books. At noon the entire school were guests of Mr. Conover at a dinner at Chicken Roost, and later reassembled reas-sembled for a continuation of the afternoon yearbook school. Alfred Ridfje explained the process pro-cess of engraving in connection with school yearbooks and during the afternoon Mr. Conover further explained various phases of yearbook year-book publications. As the various subjects were presented during the school, questions were answered an-swered and informal discussion of problems held. In connection with the school, the students and other visitors were taken on a tour of (he Art City Publishing Company establishment estab-lishment where the various processes pro-cesses used in printing a school yearbook were explained and different dif-ferent types of printing exhibited. |
