Show ' Veteran Buys i $10,000 Hcuse For One Dollar ' Fred L. Fader, fireman and war j veteran of Teaneck, N. J., has : licked his housing problem well, j almost by purchasing a seven ' room home for one dollar. Located on a site where the town officials want to erect a new firehouse, the house was offered for sale at public auction, on condition con-dition that the buyer pay the costs of removal. Fader, who had been looking for an apartment-since apartment-since his discharge from service last December after 30 months in the Pacific, was the only bidder. Moving costs for a long haul probably prob-ably discouraged others, but Fader Fa-der owns a lot only two blocks from the present location and estimates es-timates it will cost him about $2000 to move the house. Though 35 years old, the house has been well maintained and presents pre-sents a neat appearance, with its brown shingled sidewalls and a roof of long-lasting red asphalt shingles. It has modern plumbing, tile bath, steam heat, hardwood floors, a gas stove, and a frame garage. Fader reports he has already received several calls from Army buddies who want to rent rooms when he gets his new home an-c-bored down |
