Show Guns Are Dangerous BE CAREFUL! This year throughout the hunting season stories of fire-, arm accidents will again come from all parts of the country telling the grim details of how someone somewhere neglected to use common caution while handling a loaded shotgun, rifle or pistol which each year brings to many thousands the pleasures of the outdoor hunting hunt-ing sports and to many others, certain tragedy. Already stories stor-ies of gun-cleaning and hunting-preparation accidents are pouring in. Figures released some time ago by The Travelers Insurance Company reveal that during the past five years hunting accidents acci-dents accounted for only 3.3 per cent of all sport and recreation accidents, but considering the hundreds of thousands of hunting hunt-ing license holders, the total number of accidents is much too high. To make this season's hunting hunt-ing trips safer let's all follow those two old rules: Treat every gun as a loaded gun, and don't point a gun at anything you do not wish to kill. |
