Show It's YOUR Business.. . By Farman Holme In our democracy, in contrast to the collectivism states, the only way" a job can be made is for someone some-one to invest his savings to provide the tools with which men work. The "tools" may be a piece of land, or a tractor; an education, or office facilities; a sewing machine, or the obligation of a lease; a stock of groceries, or a small investment in-vestment in an oil station. Enterprise Begins A boy in your neighborhood goes to college. He graduates as a doctor, doc-tor, with an education for which he is $2000 in debt. He rents and furnishes an office. When he has built a practice, he can hire a receptionist to answer his telephone and take care of his desk. At that time, it has cost him several thousand dollars, to create jobs for two persons. In recent years excessive government gov-ernment has levied tribute on all job-makers. We have seen the freedom free-dom to build new enterprises reduced re-duced by unwise laws and bureaucratic bureau-cratic strangulation. This freedom must be restored, if our economy is to yield the greatest benefits for all. Trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff, a broken reed, which pierces the heart. We do not half remember this in the sunshine of joy ana prosperity. Mary Baker Eddy |
