One number, an overture, written writ-ten especially for the unveiling of the pioneer monument in Salt Lake City July 24, will be played by a band comprised of 2,000 tudents. Mr. Johnson, who completed his Ph. D. at the University of California Cali-fornia at Los Angeles in June, has received recognition in the east, where most of his compositions are published, as well as locally. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson of this city and is at present instructor of music at Weber College in Ogden. |
