AUTHOR DECLARES WAR INEVITABLE No hope either for preventing war or limiting it was seen Tuesday Tues-day by Dr. Will Durant, philoso-phe, philoso-phe, author and one of the world's great historians, who visited in Utah. Dr. Durant will address members mem-bers of the Bonneville Knife and Fork club Friday at 7:30 p. m., in Hotel Utah on "What Are The Lessons of History?" He passed through Salt Lake City Tuesday on his way to Provo where he will spend several days before returning return-ing to Salt Lake City. While Dr. Durant, author of "Story of Philosophy," saw no beacon of permanent peace, he expects ex-pects no major hostilities for 20 years since "nations are worn down from the recent conflict." , He saw nothing unusual in the present conflict for power between the great powers, explaining ironically ironi-cally that "peace is war by other means" and present wrangling between be-tween Russia and America is only "normal." When war returns, the atomic bomb will be used, prophesied Dr. Durant, nothing that the "murder-ousness "murder-ousness of war has constantly increased; in-creased; when war starts, the passions pas-sions are so aroused and reasoning so closed that "limited war is unlikely."
