The Cedar City unit included in-cluded 132 officers and men and is commanded by First Lt. Gary Miller. This week the unit will continue con-tinue training in a supportive mission with the 115 Group, a unit of the Wyoming National Guard. Activities of the two-week encampment will windup Friday Fri-day night and the unit will convoy back to their respective communities Saturday. The Cedar City unit is expected to arrive heme between 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday afternoon. During the two-weeks of ex-! tensive training the battalion will fire over 2,000 rounds from the newly acquired 155 self-propelled howitzers. Members cf the Cedar City unit will return to the armory Sunday for the final cleanup phase of the training and tor pay call. The 132 olficers and men cf the Cedar City unit will receive a payroll cf nearly near-ly $60,000 for the two weeks of training. Following Sunday's drill the unit will di.'pense with drills during the remainder of the summer season with resumption resump-tion cf regular drill scheduled in the fall. High morale was cited as a contributing factor to the highly successful Army Training Train-ing Tests conducted by the southern Utah unit of the National Na-tional Guard in the first week of annual summer encampment encamp-ment in northern Utah. For the first week the members mem-bers of the 2d battalion, 222nd Artillerw of the Utah National Guard, were training at Dug-way Dug-way Proving Grounds where the extensive testing program was performed. Officers of the unit report that an exceptionally high number of excellent ratings were given to the unit in a number of areas of the testing program. Those in charge credited the highly successful testing pro gram to the fact that the entire en-tire unit exemplified high morale and conduct throughout through-out the week-long testing program. pro-gram. The 2d battalion returned to Camp Williams to participate in the annual Governor's Day activities and parade. Saturday afternoon the men were released for the week end reporting back at Camp Wiliams Sunday night to begin be-gin the final week of training at Camp Williams. The Battalion, which consists con-sists of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery in Cedar City, is commanded by Colonel Howell.
