Show William Ephraim Ellsworth, Rest Hems resident to observe IQOlh anniversary ranch country, He was acquainted ac-quainted with all of the ranch country in Montana and Wyoming. Wyo-ming. In 1910 Bill met Nellie Barsness, a nurse who came out from the East to homestead home-stead and married her in 1924 when both were 50 years old. She passed away at the age of 96 after many fine years together.. to-gether.. They moved from Montana to Salt Lake and then to Marysvale where they resided as long as they were able to take care of themselves. ' f .3!;,': 0 WM. EPHRAIM ELLSWORTH A resident of the Iron County Coun-ty Rest home here, William Ephraim Ellsworth, is going to celebrate his 100th birthday birth-day on Friday, June 16 we are informed by Lasca Hunt, rest home supervisor. "Uncle Bill" as he is known by those at the home, was born in Harris-burg, Harris-burg, Washington County, Ut. June 16, 1872. He .has lived at the rest home here for the past three years, and is an accepted part of the family there. Mrs. Hunt tells us that Mr. Ellsworth's birthday is to be observed with, an open house that day from 2 to 4 p.. m. In order to give his relatives rel-atives and friends a chance to call on him., and they are invited in-vited to call. Mrs. Hunt states that relatives and acquaintances acquaint-ances from over the mountan, in Piute and Sevier counties have inquired of his well being be-ing recently and have asked if they could come and see him on his birthday. So all in all he might just have a big day. Some of the things he recalls re-calls pertaining to his early life was that his father had a winery in Harrisburg where he lived until he was eight or ten years old He remembers remem-bers having President Brig-ham Brig-ham Young and a group at his home for dinner, coming in a white topped buggy drawn by four white horses. He remembers remem-bers living in Antimony where the family homesteaded. and raised livestock When 16 years old he was sent out on the range with a herd of sheep for the winter, all alone, living on bread and mutton. He traveled to Montana Mon-tana and even Canada on horseback, to work on ranches as a cow hand and worked at many early day cattle outfits. He got to know Butch Cas-sidy Cas-sidy and Kid Curry during the time they were active in the |
