' SUSC students to participate in travel-study program in Germany will toe celebrating its 750th anniversary during their stay there. The fifth and sixth weeks will include a field trip in southern Germany and a week in Berlin tfor a seminar. The students will spend the concluding con-cluding weeks in Hamburg, again living with German families. Each student will toe employed in a position closely related to his chosen field. Mr. Roper is a German major with a minor in accounting and economics. He served a mission in southern California from 1967 to 1969 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and is a member mem-ber of the SUSC chapter cf Delta Phi Kaippa. He is vice president of the German Cluto at the college. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Rod Roper of Enterprise. On his tour, Mr. Roper will spend 28 days in Vienna taking tak-ing study in German composition compo-sition and literature. He, and other members of the study group, will live in student dormitories. Before returning to Utah in August, Mr.. Roper will have ten days in - Which to tour Germany. All three students will return re-turn to SUSC in the fall to complete their senior year of study. I Three Southern Utah State College students are spending the summer in Germany in language study programs. Mary Lou Jarvis, Bountiful, and Madeline Wilson, Salina, will participate in the sixth annual University of Cincinnati Cincin-nati Work -Study Program in Germany. Rod Roper, Enterprise, Enter-prise, will travel and study with the Foreign Study League. Lea-gue. Miss Jarvis is a German major at SUSC with a minor, in physical education. She is president of the Thunderettes and a member of the Dance Club. She is also an honor roll student. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jarvis, Bountiful. Boun-tiful. Miss Wilson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wilson, Salina. She is majoring in 1 physical education and has a German minor. She is a member mem-ber of the SUSC Swim Team and assistant sports manager for women's intramurals. The program for Miss Jarvis and Miss Wilson will encompass encom-pass 15 weeks of study, travel, and work under the direction of the University of Cincinnati Cincin-nati Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. They, with 17 other students and an advisor, will travel under auspices of the German Academic Exchange Service. The first four weeks will ibe spent at the Lessing-Kolleg, a language institute in the university uni-versity town of Marburg. While studying, the students will live with local German families.
