Show District provides program for adult high school The completion of the school year in Iron County has also concluded this years pro- gram for Adult High School, according to Marian Hahne, i Coordinator. The program, ; though small in numbers, has j provided a very worth while service to adults of this area who, for various reasons, were not able to complete high j school in their youth. j Two evening high school classes, English and Math, were taught by La Veil Chamberlain Cham-berlain of the Jr. High faculty. Both classes were individualized individual-ized to meet the needs and the abilities of the students and; the emphasis was placed on achievement rather than class room attendance. Mr. Chamberlain reports that he was very well pleased with the efforts of his students. stu-dents. All of them had full time jobs either as bread winners win-ners or as homemakers and mothers. It took dedication for them to complete night classes class-es with the home study required re-quired in addition to a busy schedule of other activity. All of them did well, Chamberlain reports. Eight students were enrolled in each class, three of them from the Parowan area. At the completion of the years work, three Adult High School Diplomas Dip-lomas were awarded. Classes will be offered next year in the individualized program. They will be organized organ-ized on the basis of need of Iron County residents. - - . |
