Show Combat not for women Dear Editor Women in combat? What a joke, only armchair commandos or idiots would advocate or even sanction such a situation. Yes, women were involved in the small skirmish in Panama, I suppose, sup-pose, and received some publicity, but who could, in their right mind, call that combat? Women in the military can be used effectively in offices, warehouses, etc., where restroom facilities are available, and they don't present a problem for the men involved. Combat is an entirel different situation. During Word War II, I was in volved as a platoon leader and company commander in recon company of a tank destroyer battalion, bat-talion, and for several months ai a time, no restroom facilities were available (not even latrines). The infantry and field artillery were in similar circumstances. Whoever heard of showers? Maybe the Navy and Air Force can accommodate women in combat, com-bat, but they have sheets on their beds and even have hot meals. Push button warfare has possibilities for women in combat.
